Patient-102

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-102 was a 17-year-old boy who went to Sunrise Hospital. They looked at him in the waiting area, diagnosed him with the flu and told him to take over-the-counter medicine. After receiving no medical care at Sunrise Hospital, they flew back home to Ohio where the hometown hospital found the boy was in serious condition with sepsis.

Patient-102 went to Sunrise Hospital and was told he had the flu and was sent back to his hotel.

Here is his story, as told by his parents:

We had a bad experience at Sunrise Hospital.

My son passed out in the Las Vegas airport and taken by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital with low blood pressure, high bpm and a slight temperature.

He is 17 and a healthy kid.

We were in the waiting room for 3 hours. They wrongly diagnosed him with the flu, and he was prescribed OTC (over-the-counter) medicine.

They only looked at him in the waiting area and sent us back to our hotel.

The next day, he had high chills, so we came back to Sunrise Hospital. We were told he should continue the OTC medicine.

I asked them if they would administer an IV because he looked dehydrated, and since he passed out the day before, don't we need to know the reason why?

Somehow we had the courage to fly back to Ohio.

He went into septic shock and was rushed to the Emergency Room (ER). They found he actually had a UTI (urinary tract infection).

He was in serious condition before he was revived in Ohio.

The doctors in our hometown were appalled by the nature of treatment he had been given at Sunrise Hospital. Very unprofessional.

Non-treatment in the ER at Sunrise Hospital put us in trauma for 6-8 months and makes us never want to visit Las Vegas again. Ever!!

The scars created by this place are so deep.

Sunrise Hospital. Patient-102 was told he had the flu, but he actually had sepsis.

This story is another reminder that you have choices. If you are being mistreated or not receiving medical care at Sunrise Hospital, go to a better hospital (even if you have to go out of state like Patient-102).

Just say NO to Sunrise Hospital
