Patient-122

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-122 went to Sunrise Hospital. He describes being pushed through hallways lined with patients and equipment and said it was like being in a game of Mario Cart. Poor medical care and employees were bad-mouthing the facility. Patient says there is a leadership and morale problem.

I have roasted our local hospital a time or two, but I could not have imagined how much worse you people have it.

Started off being yelled at by several female voices while I was going to the bathroom. Then I was ushered into a not-private triage area (shared with several other patients) and put into a chair for prep and questions.

Then I was wheeled through the gauntlet of patients parked on gurnies and wheelchairs like a game of Mario Cart --- as if bouncing off equipment and patients was not considered a bad thing.

Pushed into a CAT Scan, banged my elbows and head. Then told to get back into the chair.

Being low on O2 and dizzy and disoriented, I about hit the floor and had to ask for assistance from a visiting couple.

Back through the racetrack and back to the shared room.

Things went pretty smooth until they wanted the room, so I was sent down another hall where I was lined up with 1/2 dozen other hurting people --- along the walls of some back hallway somewhere.

The nursing staff here was at least nice and checked on me.

After a while, I got sent to....you guessed it...a shared room. I didn't think any hospital was still doing this, and boy was I wrong!!!

My wife had to care for our luggage and hotel. Then she came by taxi to find out what had become of me. The taxi driver dropped her off at night on the Children's side (of Sunrise Hospital). Because it was after hours, the hospital staff made my 65-year-old wife walk around the hospital without an escort --- rather than let her go through on the inside where she would have been safe.

To say it was sketchy is an understatement.

My general take was every single employee was upset with their work environment. Some could raise above it to care for the patients but most could not.

A few were straight up bad-mouthing the facility.

You guys have a leadership and morale problem.

NOTE TO READERS: Many of the complaints about Sunrise Hospital include comments about poor medical care, lack of communication, staff not responding to patients' requests for help, etc. The hospital needs to eliminate under-performing employees (executives, doctors, nurses and other staff).

Just say NO to Sunrise Hospital
