Patient-128
No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital
Patient--128 went to Dr. Ronald Hillock at Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center to have a Baker's cyst removed. The surgical site became infected. The patient made four trips to the Emergency Room, and they said Dr. Hillock needs to go in and clean up the infection. The patient could not walk, had to miss work, and had to cancel his honeymoon, due to the lack of care and laziness of Dr. Hillock.
This has been the worst experience for my husband and our family.
My husband had a bakers cyst removed back in February. It is now the end of June and he still hasn't healed. We have been to the ER due to the infection FOUR times. There has been no resolution or concern on Hillock's end.
The ER told us that the Hillock needs to go in and clean up the infection/remove an abscess. He has been dragging his feet and at every follow up just says it "looks good" and sends us on our way.
My husband has not been able to walk, has had to call off work and we had to cancel our Honeymoon due to the lack of care and laziness of Mr. Hillock when this probably could have been fixed back in April after ER visit #2.
At the last appointment, he had a bunch of students with him and I hope with all my might they see what not to do. He didn't listen to our concerns or didn't ask questions as to what issues we were experiencing.
After months of pain and agony and ER visits, Dr. Hillock finally agreed to do surgery to clean up the infected surgical site.
And I should have predicted what happened next.
Hillock was almost an hour late to the scheduled surgery. As they transported my husband to the operating room, I saw Hillock in the cafeteria and his whole demeanor was the opposite of what you would think a doctor would have.
If you have the option to see someone else, I would highly recommend it.
I don't understand how he has any reviews over 3 stars. He definitely should not have students shadowing him, and his bedside manner is repulsive.
It is also impossible to get a hold of his office to make an appointment in a timely manner.
Baker's Cysts
Baker's cysts, also known as popliteal cysts, are one of the most common disorders in the knee. These fluid-filled cysts form a lump at the back of the knee that often causes stiffness and discomfort. The condition is named after the 19th century surgeon who first described it, Dr. William Morrant Baker.
Baker's cysts typically result from a problem inside the knee joint, such as osteoarthritis or a meniscus tear. These conditions cause the joint to produce excess fluid, which can then go out a one-way valve in the back of the knee, leading to the formation of a cyst.
Most Baker's cysts will improve with nonsurgical treatment that includes changes in activity and anti-inflammatory medications. Some cysts may even go away on their own, with no treatment at all.
