Patient-130
No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital
Patient--130 was in Las Vegas on vacation. She experienced severe abdominal pain and went to Sunrise Hospital. They only gave her medication for pain and nausea. Her family drove her back to Los Angeles where Kaiser Permanente Hospital found the patient's appendix had ruptured. She had emergency surgery.
If my mom had not followed her gut instinct, my sister would have died.
My parents and siblings went on a weekend getaway vacation to Las Vegas.
By the second night there, my sister began experiencing severe abdominal pain. She thought she had eaten something that gave her food poisoning, so she tried to deal with is as much as she could.
After a few hours, she came to the realization that this was something more serious and ended up at Sunrise Hospital.
The doctor had no idea what she was doing. She ordered a few tests. After being unable to find the cause of her pain, she sent her away with medication for pain and nausea.
Unsatisfied with the doctor's diagnosis (or lack thereof), my mom sped home to Los Angeles.
On the way home, my sister began hallucinating.
My mom arrived at Kaiser Permanente.
Thank GOD for the nurses and doctors there.
After hearing my sister's symptoms, the doctor knew right away that it was her appendix --- that had burst on the way back to Los Angeles.
She had emergency surgery and is thankfully doing well and has fully recovered.
Beware of Sunrise Hospital!!

Once you’ve been diagnosed with appendicitis, time is of the essence.
Your appendix can rupture within 36 hours of your first symptoms.
Surgeons will usually schedule your appendectomy within 24 hours of your diagnosis.

If you are not receiving proper medical care at Sunrise Hospital, REMEMBER, you can leave and go to a better hospital --- just like this patient whose family drove her home where she received good medical care at a hospital in Los Angeles.
