Patient-221
No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital
Patient-221 went to Sunrise Hospital multiple times with the same symptoms. Received very little medical care and was discharged each time without proper evaluation. Staff had very little empathy, and the care felt rushed and dismissive. Patient says Sunrise Hospital staff needs training on compassion, communication and patient safety.
I have visited Sunrise Hospital multiple times recently, and each time I left feeling more like a number than a person.
If I could give less than one star, I would. My experience at Sunrise Hospital's Emergency Room was troubling on many levels.
On May 31, I went in with severe abdominal pain. I was given a CAT scan, quickly medicated with benzodiazepines (benzos), observed briefly, and then discharged despite not feeling well.
I returned on Saturday, Sunday morning, and again Sunday night.
Each time, I was pushed more benzos, dismissed and discharged without proper evaluation of my ongoing symptoms.
What's worse, I had to insist on documentation to avoid being treated like I was drug-seeking.
Staff communication was poor. My requests were either dismissed or ignored.
The staff acted with very little empathy, and the coordination of care felt rushed and dismissive.
Dr. Kirsten at least offered me food when she found out I had not eaten in two days, but the overall care felt cold and disconnected.
I was discharged with elevated blood pressure and chest discomfort.
This hospital needs urgent staff training on compassion, communication and patient safety.
They need serious training on how to treat patients like people, not problems to be cleared out.
I would NOT recommend Sunrise Hospital to anyone seeking attentive or thoughtful emergency care.
