Patient-280

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-280 went to Sunrise Hospital with constipation and dehydration. She was told she had stage IV cancer without doing a biopsy. She was scheduled for surgery without her permission. No IV or fluids for 4 days. Patient decided it was time to "GET OUT" of Sunrise Hospital, and she left the building.

I came into the ER for constipation and dehydration on July 14, 2026.

I had been ill and very weak 4 days.

On Tuesday, July 15, the Emergency Room (ER) doctor said I had cancer and I was being admitted.

The CT scan showed 4th stage cancer without a biopsy.

I went to my room, and the board stated surgery on Friday.

I wasn't asked if I wanted to agree to surgery. I was told.

I asked why there was no biopsy, and the doctor said he needed to open me up first.

My second night, I asked them to remove my IV needle because I injured my arm during sleep.

I asked them to put it back the next day --- which they didn't.

I was left for 4 days days without an IV --- until Friday July 17.

I wasn't asked about getting a second opinion or even a biopsy.

And why didn't they give me fluids, but they wanted to cut me open?!?

Is this a normal visit?

I had no previous symptoms to make me think I had a cancer so bad and  that I was told --- not asked about a biopsy, surgery or alternative opinions.

This was my GET OUT moment (and the patient left the hospital).

You can choose to leave a hospital.

Just ask for the AMA form (AMA means "against medical advice.") Comments posted on review websites have stated that Sunrise Hospital will try to force you to stay using scare tactics such as telling you that insurance won't pay if you leave.

If you are not getting proper medical care or are being harmed or threatened, YOU CAN LEAVE SUNRISE HOSPITAL and go to a better hospital (or go to your primary care doctor or urgent care, depending on your medical situation).

If they will not give you an AMA form, call the Hospital Hostage Hotline at 888-219-3637 or just walk out the door.

Just say NO to Sunrise Hospital
