Patient-55

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-55 was misdiagnosed and shamefully mistreated at three hospitals in Las Vegas, with Sunrise Hospital being the worst. The patient needed surgery, but Sunrise Hospital kicked him out of his room and put him back in the ER waiting area. The family says they will NEVER recommend Sunrise Hospital to anyone and neither should  you.

Medical care in Las Vegas is a complete nightmare.

I am horrified at the way they are treating my sister’s boyfriend who came to visit her from Ohio. He is very, very sick, which no one realized until Monday.

So, the first ER they went to was Saint Rose de Lima on Monday night. They discharged him and said “oh just take some antibiotics, you’re fine.”

And then the next two days he slept and slept some more and got even sicker and had a 103 temperature. So my mom took him to St. Rose Sienna this time. They told him he has an infection in his bone and they need to do surgery, but they caught it just in time.

There was also something going on with his eye, so Dr. Patrick at St. Rose Sienna decided to have the ambulance transport him to Sunrise Hospital to see their ophthalmologist. Well. We get there and guess what? They have no eye specialist there.

Dr. Patrick just wanted to get this extremely sick kid off his caseload and didn’t even check.

It gets worse.

A few hours after arriving at Sunrise Hospital, they finally give him a bed and a room. This kid hasn’t eaten for days because of how sick he’s been. Hasn’t been able to really sleep because of the pain in his bones and his entire body is shutting down and dying. His body is not working.

So, my mom and my sister stay until 12 AM and then go home. AS SOON as my mom left, they KICKED him out of the room and made him wait in the ER waiting room.

No nurse, no one checking on him, no one helping him- until 8 AM. He texted my sister at 4 AM about what was going on.

My mom gets there and tries to understand what the hell happened and advocate for this kid to get a room! They say “well we had to make staffing decisions because we’re short staffed, and we don’t have any beds available.”

They kicked him out of his room because “he’s stable,” and they need the room for other ELECTIVE SURGERY PATIENTS (you know, patients who pay to have surgery but don’t really need it right then --- knee replacements, boob jobs, other plastic surgery --- things that are not an emergency).

Let me repeat that --- Sunrise Hospital is kicking very, very sick patients out of their beds to do elective surgeries because they don’t want to lose the big sum of money they will get from those elective surgeries.

They are letting an out-of-state, 18-year-old suffer. So much for the “do no harm” medical model, eh?

I really have no other words for these medical “professionals” and how they have treated this poor kid.

He’s in a strange state and city. With people he doesn’t know.

In 3 different hospitals. Being told he needs surgery, and fast, because it was caught “just in time.”

Being kicked out of his room because they’re giving it to people who are not in medical emergencies. Having little to no comfort or healing whatsoever.

Still not having surgery for some reason while his body gets worse.

Still not sure what’s going on because no one will update him.

Can you imagine? How mad would you be if this was your son, boyfriend, husband, family member? Not to mention treating a sick human being like they’re worthless.

There are beds there. Just not for sick, dying people who desperately need surgery and medical help.

No one should EVER give any business to sunrise hospital or refer patients to sunrise hospital ever. I really cannot wrap my head around this situation. This is the worst treatment I’ve ever experienced.

Tell me how THREE hospitals failed this kid? THREE.

This poor boy is so sick he can’t even get on a plane to go home. He has to have surgery. No one is doing anything but letting him get worse and worse. We are trying to get people to listen. No one cares.

As of this post, Sunrise Hospital STILL hasn’t given him a bed. Through their actions they have basically told this kid they couldn’t care less about him and do not care if he dies.

I will never again recommend Sunrise Hospital to my clients, my family, my friends, my community, or anyone. And neither should you.

Sunrise Hospital. Patient with facial fracture received no medical care and no food or hydration.

Patient-55 was misdiagnosed and shamefully mistreated at 3 hospitals in Las Vegas. Sunrise Hospital was the worst.

When the patient's family left his room, Sunrise Hospital kicked him out of his room and sent him back to sit in a chair in the Emergency Room waiting area (even though he needed surgery).

Protect yourself. Just say NO if you are being mistreated or harassed at Sunrise Hospital. REMEMBER, you can leave and go to a better hospital.

Just say NO to Sunrise Hospital
