Patient-30
Military veteran went to Sunrise Hospital. Received very little medical care and the communication was nonexistent. The system at Sunrise Hospital is broken.
This has been one of the most frustrating, heartbreaking and exhausting experiences we have ever faced in the medical system, and it's still not over.
July 4, 2025, 7 a.m. We head to the VA hospital for Eric's pain his eye. They can't treat him there, so they sent him to Sunrise hospital.
(It's July 4th so apparently we need to schedule our emergencies more conveniently for the health care system.)
July 4, 2025. We arrived at Sunrise Hospital at 12:30 p.m., with the same IV from the VA hospital. Waited for hours in the hallway at Sunrise Hospital. No meds. No ophthalmologist. Overnight stay required. Still no meds.
July 5, 2025. They woke him up for blood draws. Still no answers. No ophthalmologist, again. Nurses refused basic care like helping him change. By 4:30 p.m., he finally received his regular medications. Still no clarity on whether there's an actual infection.
July 6, 2025. More blood draws. Another day of "maybe." MRI ordered, but nobody shows up. No doctor visit; just more waiting. Supposedly we will know soon if he needs surgery. Spoiler: He did not need surgery.
JUly 7, 2025. Eye now red, swollen and worse. MRI finally done at 9:45 a.m. Still no word from an opthalmologist. A new doctor floated two scenarios -- either antibiotics will work or he needs surgery and must be moved. Once again, we wait.
The care has been inconsistent. The communication has been nonexistent. And the system (at Sunrise Hospital) is broken.
Our veterans deserve better. My husband deserves better. Every patient deserves better.
We are not done fighting.
We won't stop speaking up.
We will keep pushing until someone listens.

Just say NO to Sunrise Hospital
