Patient-209

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-209 went to Sunrise Hospital twice with difficulty breathing, numbness and pain. He was diagnosed with pneumonia on the first visit. He went back when the symptoms became worse. The nurse was extremely rude, ignored his concerns and offered very little medical care. Patient says Sunrise Hospital needs to start over with new staff.

On 06/07/2086, I arrived at Sunrise Hospital by ambulance.

While on arrival, I was met with Dr. Monte Robert. His bedside manner was right on point. He assisted me and was very concerned.

I was diagnosed with pneumonia, felt very fatigued and had a migraine that was out of this world.

I was discharged with antibiotics and took two days off work. It took more than two days to feel better. I’m still not 100%.

On 06/17/2026, I was brought in again.

I couldn’t breathe and chest was hurting. I couldn’t feel my legs and my balance was completely off. I had numbness from the middle of my back and down my legs.

On arrival. I met with nurse Kerstin Margiotti. I explained to her the rundown of what I been dealing with the past week. I told her I had a COVID booster and pneumonia. She asked where did I get the booster. I said the upper left arm. She rudely responds, "Well that’s not gonna cause numbness in the lower extremity."

I stated to her that I didn’t say it did. I was simply explaining what I been going through and why I’m here today.

I explained to her I am very familiar with medical terminology and anatomy. I know my body. Something’s off.

I also told her from my lower back down my buttocks and down my legs and groin area is completely numb I cannot feel anything.

I explained I have a sciatic problem, but this was the worst I felt in a long time.

I was given an IV and fluids. I stated I was in excruciating pain. I was given a urine cup.

My wife was trying to check on me. She was told numerous times that she couldn’t come check on me. She explained to me that she could see other patients' loved ones being escorted to the back, but she was not allowed.

I was in extreme pain.

Then I was told all tests came back normal.

Nobody ordered a CT scan or an MRI.

How can you diagnose anything with ordering a chest X-ray and checking my lungs?

I am still dealing with this issue and was never given anything for pain, but I was told I can go sit in the lobby.

I had to walk to the lobby and was not given a wheelchair or helped to the lobby.

You all take an oath to treat everyone with respect and compassion, but I saw none of that.

You all need to start over with new staff that will treat patients how they should be treated. We are human beings, leaving our lives in your hands, and this was definitely not a welcoming visit.

Do better!!!

If I could give NO STARS, I would because you don’t even deserve a star for the poor care I received.

I overheard nurses being happy about discharging people.

One elderly woman was on the verge of a heart attack, and her son was begging you all not to discharge her.

Where is the care and concern? I guess it takes a backseat.

I hope the elderly woman is okay.

Disrespectful Behaviors in Health Care

Widespread disrespectful behavior in health care persists unchecked and is found at all levels of the organization and among all disciplines of staff.

Disrespectful behavior chills communication and collaboration, undercuts individual contributions to care, undermines staff morale, increases staff resignations and absenteeism, creates an unhealthy or hostile work environment, causes some to abandon their profession, and ultimately harms patients.

These behaviors have been linked to adverse events, medical errors, compromises in patient safety, and even patient mortality.
