Patient-58

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-58 went to Sunrise Hospital. The doctor said the patient had brain stem cancer and that she would die in 2 weeks --- which was FALSE. There was no diagnosis of cancer in the patient's chart. Was it incompetence or insurance fraud or something more sinister?

OMG!!! Where do I begin.

My mother is in the hospital for a brain stem lesion. This unprofessional medical doctor contacted me to inform me my mother had stage 4 brain stem cancer.

When I fly to see her and when he walked in my mother's room, the first thing out his mouth was "Wow, I am shocked she is breathing."

He then tells me her biopsy was positive for stage 4 glioblastoma and she will die in the next 2 weeks.

I was expecting him to show me her pathology report, but he only showed me her MRI. What?

I work in neurosurgery and have a background in epidemiology, so I am aware of treatment options and proper care. I then ask him if I can have another oncologist look at her chart just in case. I also asked him about treat options, and he refused to try anything.

He said all this in front of my mother, but he claimed she was in a coma. She was NOT in a coma!! She responded to our family by blinking her eyes.

He then expected me to send my mother to hospice and remove the full code from her.

My brother talked to the surgeon and was told they are still waiting for her results.

My mother had another MRI and the lesion had not changed since the last one.

The radiology results stated we correlate with biopsy results which told me they were not in.

My brother asked the surgeon if we needed to start planning her end of life, and he said we don’t know what she has and there are treatment options.

I spoke to three more medical personnel, and they looked at my mother's chart and said there is no diagnosis of cancer.

I contacted the insurance case manager and told them the oncologist gave them a diagnosis when there was not one in the chart. This man (the doctor) is committing insurance fraud, and I would not be surprised if he is killing patients right away when they have a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate order).

This man (the doctor) is working in a county hospital, and I am sure he is killing people. He kept telling me my mom was dying in 2 weeks. How would he know that? Was he going to inject her with something?

I am glad I didn't wait to find out. I am going to make it my top priority to get this doctor's privileges taken away.

Was it incompetence or insurance fraud or something more sinister?

I am grateful my mother is still here, and I now have a better team trying everything to help.

Sunrise Hospital, doctor gives false diagnosis of cancer

Wrongful Diagnosis of Cancer

A wrongful diagnosis happens when a doctor diagnoses cancer that is not actually there. This can lead to unnecessary cancer treatment, physical and emotional stress, and lasting harm. For example, a false positive on imaging tests could cause a patient to undergo surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation without ever having cancer.
