Patient-397

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-397 went to Sunrise Hospital. Worst discharge experience I have ever seen. Discharge paperwork had the wrong medications. It had a list of medications from 5 years ago. They put her on Heparin which should NOT have happened because they had to implant a pacemaker. Patient says this hospital is lawsuit worthy.

My mother came in with her current list of medications, but they are going off a list they had in their system from 5 years ago.

She was put on Heparin when she should NOT have been because they had to put a pacemaker in her.

No explanation of how the communicator works.

Nothing!!

This hospital is at best lawsuit worthy.

Heparin bridging (using heparin injections or infusions around the time of pacemaker or ICD surgery) is generally NOT recommended because it increases the risk of bleeding.

Patients receiving heparin after cardiac device implantation had a 5- or 10-fold greater risk of pocket hematoma formation when compared with patients treated with warfarin alone or no anticoagulation.

In general, blood thinners are stopped

3 days prior to surgery.
