Patient-230
No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital
Patient-230 went to Sunrise Hospital with severe abdominal pain. A CT scan was NOT done. They gave her only a muscle relaxer on the 1st visit, and gave her Valium on the 2nd visit. Patient later went to an OB/GYN and ended up having surgery to stop the internal bleeding, remove 100 mL of clotted blood along with extensive irrigation (1.7 liters) to wash out the abdomen. Patient DOES NOT recommend Sunrise Hospital for any type of emergency.
I went in for lower abdominal pain due to a complex ruptured cyst. The pain was so intense that I had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.
An ultrasound was done which showed liquid, but no CT scan was done to confirm what kind of liquid it consisted of --- like blood.
Instead of being given medication for pain relief, a muscle relaxer was prescribed.
I called back advising the medication is not working, so they ordered Ibuprofen which I previously advised I was not able to have due to having a gastric bypass. Therefore, I had to return to the ER.
They gave me Valium for the pain while I was there which I later found out is used for anxiety. They also ordered medication for the pain but not able to get the same day due to issues at the pharmacy.
A week later, an OB/GYN performed another ultrasound as I was still in severe pain and looked like I was carrying a bowling ball in my stomach.
The doctor was concerned with all the fluid and sent me to the ER which the ER admitted me.
I ended up having surgery to stop the internal bleeding, remove 100 mL of clotted blood along with extensive irrigation (1.7 liters) to wash out the abdomen.
Since I was only visiting, I had to wait days to get the proper care when I came home.
I would not recommend Sunrise Hospital for any type of emergency, based on my personal experience.
