Patient-207

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-207 went to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance, because the ambulance driver refused to take the patient to her hospital of choice --- Henderson Hospital which was right next door. (We have heard this in many other patient stories, even though the Clark County EMS System Emergency Medical Care Protocols specifically state that "patients shall be transported to the hospital of their choice.") Patient says Sunrise Hospital's horrible reputation has NOT changed in years!!

The WORST OF THE WORST!!

Sunrise Hospital's horrible reputation has NOT changed in years!!

I live next to Henderson Hospital, but the ambulance refused to take my mother there.

Notes to readers:

  • The ambulance driver took this patient to Sunrise Hospital which is several miles away from her home. The patient had requested to be taken to Henderson Hospital which was next door.
  • We have heard this in many other stories where the ambulance drivers take the patients to Sunrise Hospital instead of the patient's hospital of choice --- even though the Clark County Nevada EMS System Emergency Medical Care Protocols specifically state that "patients shall be transported to the hospital of their choice; if the patient has no preference, the patient should be transported to the closest facility."
  • How many times have other Las Vegas hospitals lost out on revenue because the ambulance drivers take the patients to Sunrise Hospital instead of the patient's hospital of choice?

I will say the ICU (critical level) does have an amazing staff and knows how to run business. Unfortunately, while there, we had an amazing nurse, Cesar, who was professional, very informative and kind-hearted.

But please do not get me started on the horrible care and nurses that are in the medical/normal floor.

It's disgusting how miserable the nurses are.

My mother needed to use the restroom several times and had to wait over 2 hours. She was unable to walk and was removed off the ventilators. They had bad attitudes and just no common sense.

I think just one nurse (in that unit) was okay. Which is a shame.

Whoever is up there training the ICU nurses, please come down and handle the main floor!!
