Patient-110
No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital
Patient-110 was transported by helicopter from Pahrump to Sunrise Hospital with broken ribs. Nurses were rude and not helpful. Never saw a doctor. They did not change her bandages and did not give her a prescription for pain meds when she was discharged.
We live in Pahrump, and my mother was taken by helicopter to Sunrise Hospital.
We thought she was going to a good hospital since it’s the adult trauma hospital.
My mom had fractured 8-12 of her ribs, and the ICU nurses were very attentive. After 2 days, she got moved to a regular room. And this is when the problems started.
My mom was in a lot of pain from her ribs being fractured, and the only thing they gave her was Tylenol. The nurses were very rude.
She had asked for some tissues from a nurse, and she forgot to bring her some so when she came back in the room an hour later my mom said something and the nurse left and returned with 3 boxes. After that, the nurse was very snotty towards my mom.
My mom had bandages on her knee and hand from her fall, and when she came home today, I asked her why she still had the same ones on and she said they never changed them. Do they not understand that she could have got an infection on the open wound on her knee from having the same bandage on and all the dried-up blood on it.
The first night she told the nurse she needed to use the restroom, and the nurse said I will go get you a walker. 45 minutes later, a different nurse came in with the walker. By then, it was too late for the bathroom.
She had to share a room with another patient, and this patient was constantly bothering my mom and waking her up to call the nurses because the nurses ignored the call light. Then the other patient would start yelling and screaming for help.
My mom wasn’t able to sleep due to the disturbance of the other patient.
When anyone would come in the room to tend to my mom, the other patient would pull the staff away from my mom and get them to help her instead and they should have got another nurse.
We put our trust in these hospitals to take care of our loved ones, and they 100% failed.
After reading all the reviews, things will never change with the staff.
Also not once did a doctor come in and speak to my mom. It was just a bunch of little boys with there backpacks on that would come talk to her.
They weren’t even doctors, so how can they legally give out medical advice.
Today when my mom was leaving, they didn’t care that she was going to be in pain and they didn’t give her anything to take at home with 8-12 fractured ribs.
Very, very disappointed in this hospital.
I will make sure anyone I know avoids this hospital at all costs.
The director of the hospital needs to take these reviews very serious and think about straightening out the staff or get rid of the current ones and hire ones that have better bedside manners and care for the patients.
Isn’t that what they go to school for --- to care for these people? I am sure they wouldn't want their family to be treated horrible.

Just say NO to Sunrise Hospital
