The Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) was formally established in 1960 and incorporated in 1971. NHA was created by hospital administrators to provide a unified forum for all types of hospitals to address such issues as reimbursement, worker’s compensation, professional liability, and continuing education, among others.

According to the website for the Nevada Hospital Association (NHA), their mission statement is defined as:

We are a membership organization serving as a statewide resource and leader in promoting public understanding of, and support for, the healthcare system serving Nevada’s communities. The NHA serves as an advocate for our members to lead in the provision of high quality, affordable and accessible healthcare services, resulting in healthier Nevada communities.

Important note: Todd Sklamberg, the CEO of Sunrise Hospital, has been on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Hospital Association for many years (so it is not surprising that NHA took no action against Sunrise Hospital).

NHA held its annual conference, September 23-25, 2025, at the Tahoe Blue Event Center, near Lake Tahoe in Nevada.

The CEO of Sunrise Hospital, Todd Sklamberg, is in the main photo on this page (see the collage of 4 photos in the second column of this page), and here is another photo of Sklamberg posted on Facebook on October 7, 2025.

You will notice the agenda (picture 3 below) is vague and says nothing about improving healthcare for the people of Nevada.

Another missed opportunity

As we mentioned in our discussion of Never Events, one starting point would be for healthcare organizations to invite patients or family members to their conferences in order to tell their stories. This would provide an opportunity for further healing of the trauma of those events and provide detailed insight for the organizations so they could learn and improve and help to prevent Never Events in the future.

NHA was aware of the serious situation regarding Patient-1, Dr. Michael Bradford and Sunrise Hospital. They could have added this item to the agenda and could have invited Patient-1 to attend the conference and speak to the members about what happened, but NHA chose to hide from the truth (just like Dr. Bradford and Sunrise Hospital).

This list is from the NHA website. These are the people who go to the annual NHA parties to eat food, socialize and have fun, while patients continue to suffer and die.

As you can see on the most recent agenda, there is NOTHING on the agenda that focuses on patient care.
