Patient-54

No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital

Patient-54 was kept in the Emergency Room for 3 days with a facial fracture. No food or water, no medical care, and the nurses would not take her to the bathroom despite her repeated calls for help. The family had the patient discharged.

WORST - WORST staff EVER!!

A patient with dementia and a facial fracture was held in the Emergency Room, waiting for an inpatient room, for almost 3 days!!!

And virtually ignored.

Instead of helping her to bathroom she was ignored, causing her to urinate on herself despite her cries for help to go to the bathroom.

They continued to ignore her.

NEVER SAW HER EAT for the time she was there.

Nor did I see anyone try to give her anything to drink.

Nor did she have an IV to give her fluids.

I called her doctor and had her discharged ASAP!!

NEVER TO RETURN TO THIS HOSPITAL!!

NOTE about facial fractures:  Facial fractures are a common cause of emergency department visits. Traumatic injuries to the face may result in various fracture patterns. These types of injuries carry significant risk to patients both with regard to facial fractures and injuries involving the brain, cervical spine, eyes, and other nearby anatomic structures. It is important for the treating physician to be mindful of the Airway, Breathing, and Circulation (ABCs) of patient stabilization, as these injuries can compromise a patient’s airway or be associated with intracranial and cervical spine injuries.

Sunrise Hospital. Patient with facial fracture received no medical care and no food or hydration.
