Patient-232
No Medical Care and None of His Prescription Medications for 8 days at Sunrise Hospital
Patient-232 went to Sunrise Hospital for surgery. Numerous mistakes were made throughout the process. Patient says operating room staff were lazy or sloppy or both and seemed more concerned about turnover than patient safety. The hospital's APP was not working so the patient's husband could not check on her, and nobody contacted him. Patient says "Would you want to pay for this lack of care?"

I came out of surgery with a 3-way catheter that was NOT plugged, so I was soaked. I also did NOT have a securement device, so it was pulling on me.
These are both part of basic patient care.
This just shows me the OR (Operating Room) was lazy, sloppy or both.
I am a PACU nurse, and I would never let this happen to my patient. I would be embarrassed.
Then the balloon had a leak, and they had to call the surgeon to exchange my catheter.
All of this makes me feel as if the OR was more concerned with turnover time rather than patient care of safety.
I had to have blood work done twice because there was a mix-up on my name.
While I appreciate the safety on this part, it does to show there was an issue in EVERY PART OF THE PROCESS.
I am 59 years old and previously had a hysterectomy, but I was still tested for pregnancy, both times. I hope this isn't on the bill. I am mad at the process and that I will actually be billed for it.
Also, the APP so my husband could check on me wasn't working, and no one called him.
I understand stuff happens, but would all of this be acceptable if you or a loved one were the patient?
